Bios:
Dave Skovholt is the Education and Engagement Supervisor in the Labor Standards Division of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI), where he has worked since 2018. Dave’s outreach is focused on Minnesota’s Labor Standards laws, including those that cover wage theft prevention, child labor, pregnant and new parent employees and other workplace requirements. He travels throughout the state, meeting with business groups and community organizations. Before working at DLI, Dave was a labor union business agent, overseeing and negotiating collective bargaining agreements in Minnesota and throughout the Midwest.
Melissa Parra-Huizar is the Education and Engagement Specialist in the Labor Standards Division of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI). Within a year, she advanced through three positions and developed skills as a senior labor investigator and education and engagement specialist. She led complex investigations, ensuring compliance with labor law regulations and protecting employee rights. Before DLI, Melissa was also part of the Driver License for All Movement for Minnesota, significantly impacting the community. Now, her primary focus has been implementing educational strategies to engage with diverse stakeholders on behalf of the Labor Standards Division to ensure labor law compliance and support.
